Visa Tap to Pay is a new contactless method of payment – the latest evolution in Visa payments. It is a simple, secure and quick payment method. The technology enables cardholders to ‘Tap’ their card on a contactless Point-of-Sale (PoS) terminal to make transactions up to INR2,000, rather than ‘swiping’ or ‘dipping’ their card into PoS terminals.

How does the Visa Tap to Pay technology work?

Visa Contactless cards have a tiny antenna embedded into the chip, which securely transmits payment instructions to and from a specially adapted card terminal. These cards feature a distinctive contactless mark and PoS terminals that accept contactless cards will also feature this contactless symbol.

You can use your Visa Tap to Pay-enabled card at any retailer displaying the contactless symbol at the point of sale, both in India and overseas.

Can I use my debit card for online transactions?

Yes, your debit card is equipped to process online transactions. Please note that, as per RBI guidelines, the online transactions are disabled by default when the card is issued. To enable online payments or e-commerce transactions, you need to activate this feature via the digibank app.

  1. Open the DBS Bank digibank app.
  2. Navigate to Accounts -> Cards -> Card Settings.
  3. Turn on E-commerce/Online Transactions Usage (for Domestic and International) and set the preferred limit.

How do I generate my debit card PIN?

Debit card PIN can be generated through the Mobile Banking/digibank app, Internet Banking, or at an ATM.

The Debit Card is issued as per the account variant opted by you. Currently, only Bank initiated card upgrades are allowed which are determined by your net relationship value under the program banking.

Yes, you can perform international transactions using DBS Bank debit cards. However, when the debit cards are issued, the international transaction feature is disabled by default as per the RBI mandate. Customers can easily turn it on using the DBS Bank mobile banking or digibank app.

To generate a new PIN:

Delivery Related

When will I receive my Debit Card?

The debit card is delivered within 7 working days post issuance.

How do I track the delivery of my debit card?

Throughout the delivery process, you will receive SMS updates along with a tracking number. You can track the delivery status of your debit card on the courier's website using the tracking number sent via SMS within 2 working days of requesting the card. It usually takes up to 7 days for the Debit Card to reach you. Our courier will make three attempts to deliver your card before returning it to us. If courier services are not available in your area, your card will be delivered to you in 12 working days through other courier services like Speed Post.

Please note : The debit card will be delivered only to the account holder or a blood relative after verification through valid ID proof.

To permanently block or hotlist your debit card, go to the "Debit Cards" tab under the "Accounts" section in the DBS Bank mobile banking/digibank app. Select the debit card you want to block and choose the "Permanently Block/Unblock" option.

How can I set my PIN at the ATM or generate a green PIN?

To generate a PIN or Green PIN at the ATM, follow these steps:

  1. 1. Insert your debit card into the ATM and select "Green PIN" from the menu.
  2. 2. Choose "Generate OTP" to receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on your registered mobile number. The OTP is valid for 3 minutes.
  3. 3. Once the card light blinks, remove your card from the ATM.
  4. 4. Reinsert your card, select "Green PIN" again, and then choose "Validate OTP."
  5. 5. Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number on the ATM screen.
  6. 6. After OTP validation, enter your new 4-digit PIN and confirm it.

With your digiSavings VISA Debit Card, you can withdraw up to INR 50,000 daily from ATMs in India. For international withdrawals, the daily limit is up to INR 25,000 from VISA-enabled ATMs. You can view and manage your daily limits by accessing "My Account" > "Debit Card" > "Manage Debit Card" in the app.

Important: International cash withdrawals may incur exchange rates and additional fees, including TCS. Effective 1st April 2024, international spends on DBS Bank debit cards will incur a TCS rate of 0% for LRS usage within INR 7 lakh. For amounts exceeding INR 7 lakh, the TCS rate will be 20%, as per the “LRS for other purposes” guidelines.

The INR 7 lakh threshold is the aggregate limit for Forex transactions at the customer’s PAN level, including outward remittances, Forex prepaid cards, currency, and foreign currency demand drafts. The maximum LRS limit is set at USD 250,000.

Will TCS be applicable on ATM, POS, or e-commerce transactions made with a DBS Bank Debit Card?

A debit card is required to utilise the digibank app and online banking services. What is the RBI’s new tokenisation guideline?

RBI has directed the payment aggregators, wallets and online merchants (entities in card transaction/payment chain other than card issuers/card networks) not to store any sensitive card related customer information including full card details. Instead, card numbers must be replaced with ‘tokens’. This RBI mandate came into effect on 1st October 2022. This change is not aimed to disrupt your debit card experience but will instead enhance the security of your transactions.

Standing Instructions on Debit Cards

What is a Standing Instruction/e-Mandate on a DBS Bank Debit Card?

The Standing Instructions/e-mandate feature is a recurring payment instruction on a debit card which facilitates periodic scheduled payments, and can be set-up by a debit card holder on a merchant platform.

How do I set up Standing Instructions on my DBS Bank Debit Card?

You can set up Standing Instructions while making payment on any merchant platform. You may be required to define the payment frequency, trigger amount, maximum amount, and tenure of the transaction. The DBS Bank Debit Card selected during registration would be the default debit card for all future recurring payments.

What are the different types of Standing Instructions I can set up?

(a) Fixed Standing Instructions: These are recurring payments where the amount remains constant each time. For example, a monthly deduction of INR 500 for a subscription on an OTT platform./p>

(b) Variable Standing Instructions: These are recurring payments where the amount varies each time a payment is made. For example, a Standing Instruction for an electricity bill, where the amount changes monthly.

No, new card numbers will not get automatically updated on the merchant’s platform. You are required to update your new card number for fresh Standing Instructions on the respective merchant platform.

How can I modify my existing Standing Instructions for recurring payments to merchants?

You can modify the existing Standing Instructions by logging into the DBS Bank digibank app or make the modifications directly on the merchant platform.
