Singapore, 29 Jun 2025 - DBS/POSB is bringing back the popular weekly SGD 3 cashback at hawker stalls, wet markets and heartland shops, as part of the bank’s latest slew of benefits to bolster customer savings and commemorate Singapore’s 60th birthday. Over the next three months, the bank will offer some two million cashback rewards that Singaporeans and residents can redeem for their purchases in the heartlands via DBS PayLah!. In addition, POSB debit and credit cardmembers can enjoy new SGD 0.60 and SGD 6 meal deals at participating food and beverage outlets.

A customer uses PayLah! to scan and pay for his meal at a hawker stall. Every Saturday from 12 July to 27 September, the first 160,000 people who use PayLah! to scan-and-pay at participating hawker stalls, wet markets and heartland shops will enjoy up to SGD3 off.

Besides helping consumers to save more on their everyday expenses, the bank will also enliven Marina Bay by introducing new complimentary sailboat rides in Marina Bay every Friday evening.

The SG60 gamut of year-long benefits, first launched in March, include 60-cent grocery deals; measures to reduce mortgage payments; waivers and cashback benefits for heartland merchants; and a DBS Foundation nutritional and mental well-being support programme for vulnerable seniors. They reinforce the bank’s longstanding commitment to support its customers and the community. For instance, DBS was the first corporate in Singapore to offer weekly hawker meal subsidies via PayLah! in 2023, as part of the bank’s suite of support measures for customers amid rising everyday expenses. Last year, the bank subsidised over SGD 14 million worth of everyday purchases and hawker meals in the heartlands.

Today, over 70% of payments made via PayLah! Scan to Pay are for food and groceries from heartland shops and hawker stalls. Among those who redeemed the cashback rewards, 39% were senior citizens and/or earning less than SGD 2,500 a month. Participating hawkers, wet market stallholders and heartland merchants also saw their weekend earnings increase by about 40% via PayLah! transactions.

Lim Him Chuan, DBS Singapore Country Head, said, “The positive reception to our PayLah! weekly cashback initiative has been encouraging. We are grateful for our customers’ steadfast support over the years and believe that bringing back this initiative for SG60 further reaffirms our commitment to standing by them and driving inclusive growth of our heartlands. Through our entire suite of support measures, we seek to ease living and business costs, as well as enhance the well-being of our society by making everyday moments a little more special and meaningful for everyone.”

Standing alongside customers and the community: Easing their everyday expenses

  • Any day (1 July to 30 September): SGD 0.60 deals at participating food and beverage outlets, including at local favourites Old Chang Kee, BreadTalk, TOAST BOX and Polar Puffs & Cakes. KFC will be offering SGD 6 set meals (valid while stocks last). These deals are available via the POSB Everyday Card and PAssion POSB Debit Card.
  • Every Saturday (12 July to 27 September): Up to SGD 3 cashback for the first 160,000 people who scan and pay with PayLah! at over 22,000 participating hawker stalls, wet markets and heartland shops from 8am. Participating heartland shops and wet market stalls will display the ‘POSB Support Our Heartland Shops’ wobbler. Hawker stalls will display the PayLah! Scan to Pay sticker and have to be SGQR code-enabled.

From 1 August, DBS/POSB credit cardmembers can redeem their DBS Points and POSB Daily$ for new DBS Rewards Flexi eVouchers on PayLah! and spend them at any merchant with a valid NETS SGQR code. From 1 August to 30 September 2025, DBS cardmembers who redeem 6,000 DBS Points in exchange for a SGD 60 DBS Rewards Flexi eVoucher will receive an additional SGD 60 cashback.

Standing alongside the community: Creating memorable moments and experiences by Marina Bay

  • Every Friday evening (from September): Members of the public can sign up for complimentary sunset sail rides in Marina Bay to enjoy the iconic city skyline. This is in addition to the day sailing sessions available five days a week.
  • Every weekend: Members of the public can enjoy free programmes that showcase Singaporean music, poetry and films at the DBS Foundation Outdoor Theatre at the Esplanade.

Throughout the year, the bank will continue to revitalise local neighbourhoods through its POSB “Support Our Heartlands” community engagement efforts. These include scaling digital and financial literacy carnivals and Getai roadshows to more neighbourhoods, as well as ensuring that digital, anti-scam awareness and financial literacy education is more accessible and convenient for everyone.
