Bank DBS Indonesia Initiates "Plant more, Pollute less" Mass Volunteering Activities to Plant One Thousand Trees in Bekasi

Bank DBS Indonesia is committed to realizing its 'Live more, Bank less' mission not only for customers in carrying out banking activities, but also within the company through the 'People of Purpose' program, a volunteering movement of Bank DBS Indonesia employees aimed at sharing positive DBS values. The annual mass volunteering activity this year takes 'Plant more, Pollute less' as its theme to preserve and conserve the environment. In collaboration with the Bekasi government, Bank DBS Indonesia planted one thousand trees in the Patriot City Forest, Bekasi.
Bank DBS Indonesia conducted a series of volunteering activities at the end of this year, which was started by the planting of one thousand trees at Lake Duta Harapan, Bekasi on 28 November 2019 by employees of the Technology and Operations division. The activity, led by Boon Khee Lim, Managing Director of Technology & Operations, PT Bank DBS Indonesia, was aimed at creating a greener environment in the future. In addition to planting trees in Bekasi, 100 employees of the Consumer Banking Group team who are part of the 'People of Purpose' movement also cleaned the beach and planted around 400 mangrove trees on Harapan island, Thousand Islands on 2 December 2019.
"Changes don’t just happen out of the blue. That is why we take small steps for a better environment through this series of volunteering activities. This is a tangible form of Bank DBS Indonesia's social responsibility, especially in protecting and preserving the environment," said Mona Monika, Executive Director, Head of Marketing Communications of PT Bank DBS Indonesia.
"We appreciate the support and care given by Bank DBS Indonesia for environmental sustainability, especially in Bekasi. These tree planting volunteering activities that are carried out en masse will someday have a positive impact on the environment and our future generations," said Rahmat Effendi, Mayor of Bekasi. In addition to tree planting activities, Bank DBS Indonesia also invited participants who consisted of employees and media partners to make clay pots, color pots, plant ornamental plants, make trash can installations, do gardening, even paint the edges of sidewalks.
