From today to 27 September, the first 160,000 people who make purchases via DBS PayLah! every Saturday at over 22,000 participating hawker stalls, wet markets and heartland shops will be able to redeem up to SGD 3 in cashback rewards. In addition, POSB debit and credit cardmembers will enjoy SGD 0.60 and SGD 6 meal deals at participating food and beverage outlets.
Besides helping customers to save more on their expenses, the bank is also curating multi-generational experiences with complimentary sunset sailboat rides in Marina Bay and tours for seniors at the newly reopened DBS Singapore Gallery at the National Gallery.
First launched in March, the pipeline of SG60 initiatives includes SGD 0.60 grocery and meal deals; measures to reduce mortgage payments; waivers and cashback benefits for heartland merchants; and a DBS Foundation nutritional and mental well-being support programme for vulnerable seniors. Between March and June, POSB cardmembers enjoyed more than SGD 1 million worth of savings on rice and oil from Sheng Siong supermarkets.
Reinforcing the bank’s longstanding commitment to support its customers and the community, these initiatives are aimed at helping customers to stretch their dollar and alleviate their financial stress. For instance, DBS was the first corporate in Singapore to offer weekly hawker meal subsidies (via PayLah!) in 2023, as part of the bank’s suite of support measures for customers amid rising everyday expenses. Last year, the bank subsidised over SGD 14 million worth of everyday purchases and hawker meals in the heartlands.
Said Lim Him Chuan, Singapore Country Head, DBS, “DBS has been an integral part of Singapore’s nation-building over the past 60 years. We were formed to finance Singapore's industrialisation, and over the years, have supported the growth of new and existing businesses, and also the community. Through good and tough times, generations of Singaporeans have placed their trust in us, something we are committed to upholding. So, in this SG60 year that is also marked by heightened uncertainty, our hope is that our measures can help ease cost of living concerns and make a difference to our customers and beneficiaries.”
Details of the bank’s suite of SG60 initiatives were shared at the DBS/POSB “SG60 Pop Up” community event at One Punggol on 12 July 2025, where Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, Senior Minister of State for Education & Sustainability and the Environment Janil Puthucheary, and Member of Parliament (Punggol GRC) Yeo Wan Ling, interacted with event participants.
Throughout the year, the bank will continue to revitalise the neighbourhoods through its POSB “Support Our Heartlands” community engagement efforts. This includes scaling digital and financial literacy carnivals and Getai roadshows to more neighbourhoods, ensuring that anti-scam and financial literacy education is more accessible and convenient for everyone.
