Celebrating Independence Day: Bank DBS Indonesia Launches DBS x Mahija Mobile School to Promote Educational Inclusion | Bahasa

Indonesia.22 Aug 2025
Indonesia, 22 Aug 2025 - Inclusive education is one of the keys to cultivating a resilient and future-ready Golden Generation 2045, especially among children from vulnerable communities with limited access to education and learning opportunities. Recognising the importance of inclusive education, Bank DBS Indonesia is committed to providing learning opportunities for every child so that they can reach their full potential.

The DBS x Mahija Mobile School programme, held in collaboration with the Mahija Parahita Nusantara Foundation, is part of the effort to build inclusive education for children through the provision of mobile learning facilities to bring basic education to their neighbourhoods.

To follow up on the initiative, Bank DBS Indonesia provided opportunities for 100 children of waste pickers to explore new things and break out of their daily routine. To coincide with the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, the participants were invited to explore the landmarks of the capital city such as the National Monument and history museums to make learning fun and interactive for them.

As a bank with aspirations to become the Best Bank for a Better World, we believe that education is the key to change and progress for the future. Numerous studies show that self-confidence plays a major role in cultivating a willingness to learn, the courage to face challenges, and the resilience to go through life transitions. Therefore, we want to create learning opportunities that are not only about imparting knowledge but also about building self-confidence, curiosity, and a spirit of exploration from an early age," said VP of Impact Beyond Banking at PT Bank DBS Indonesia Riany Agustina.

DBS Bank Indonesia continues to seek ways to expand the benefits and impact of every initiative it undertakes. One such initiative is the People of Purpose (PoP) volunteer programme. Through the programme, employees will serve as mentors to more than 100 children in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, and Johar Baru, Central Jakarta, over the next three months. This initiative is in line with Bank DBS Indonesia's third sustainability pillar, Impact Beyond Banking, which encourages tangible contributions beyond core banking activities.

In addition to supporting direct learning, Bank DBS Indonesia also donates school supplies and educational games for preschool to high school students. Hopefully, this support will not only provide new experiences but also open up brighter future opportunities for them.

VP of Impact Beyond Banking at PT Bank DBS Indonesia Riany Agustina, together with Bank DBS Indonesia employees, accompanied children from vulnerable communities in the DBS x Mahija Mobile School activity at the National Monument (Monas), Jakarta (August 22, 2025). Held in celebration of Indonesia's 80th Independence Day, the programme invited 100 children of waste pickers to visit Monas to learn about Indonesian history and foster a sense of nationalism, while also providing them with an experience outside of their daily routine. The initiative was part of Bank DBS Indonesia's commitment to supporting the education and empowerment of the younger generation.
