DBS FUN RACE and waste cleanup activity as part of Bank DBS Indonesia's 34th anniversary celebrations
Bank DBS Indonesia employees, in collaboration with “Operasi Semut”, collect 83 kg of waste in less than an hour
Entering its 34th year, Bank DBS Indonesia strengthens commitment to sustainability and the development of an inclusive work environment
In celebration of its anniversary, Bank DBS Indonesia focuses on real actions that impact the environment and empower local communities. The bank's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments are encapsulated in its three sustainability pillars, namely Responsible Banking, Responsible Business Practice, and Impact Beyond Banking. The third pillar, Impact Beyond Banking, focuses on how the bank has a positive impact on the environment and local communities, including through its employee volunteer movement, People of Purpose. The waste cleanup activity, organised in collaboration with Operasi Semut, was definite proof of Bank DBS Indonesia's consistency in supporting the People of Purpose movement. In less than an hour, Bank DBS Indonesia’s employees managed to collect 83 kg of waste. The activity has further strengthened Bank DBS Indonesia's position as a purpose-driven bank to realise its vision of becoming the Best Bank for a Better World.
In addition to cleaning up the trash in the CFD area, Bank DBS Indonesia also invited participants to take part in several other volunteer activities such as donating food to marginalised communities and orphanages in several cities and upcycling workshops with Setali where participants had the opportunity to recycle used fabrics into useful items such as tote bags. Bank DBS Indonesia also held a Future Forward Week programme to foster a culture of collaboration within the company.

Technology disruption as foundation for impactful innovation
Bank DBS Indonesia has successfully created technology-led innovations in the banking industry, including the digibank by DBS application that was launched in 2017 and that has developed into a full-fledged digital banking application with complete and competitive features that ensure customer convenience and comfort. Along with an increase in the number of active users of the digibank by DBS application, third party fund (DPK) account balances have doubled in the last two years while investment account balances have increased by 60% compared to 2022.
In addition to focusing on technological innovation, Bank DBS Indonesia also integrates ESG factors in every line of business as a manifestation of the first sustainability pillar, Responsible Banking. As of May 2023, Bank DBS Indonesia’s green financing has surged 249% or Rp3.9T compared to the same period in 2022. The funds were channeled to the real estate and energy sectors. On the retail business, as a pioneer of digital banking in Indonesia, Bank DBS Indonesia focuses on enhancing (or offering more choices for) ESG-themed equity and mutual fund investment products on the digibank by DBS application.
