Indonesia, 13 May 2022 - Bank DBS Indonesia was in the top three of Global Champion - Private Business Group in the creditor/investor category at Apresiasi Mitra BUMN Champion 2022. The event was organised by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to show appreciation to SOE partners who have supported SOEs in running their business activities and operations so that they can improve their performance more effectively and efficiently. The achievement served as a strong motivation for Bank DBS Indonesia to improve services and digital transformation in line with the "Live more, Bank less" principle aimed at facilitating customers in conducting daily banking transactions.
President Director of Bank DBS Indonesia
Paulus Sutisna expressed appreciation for the recognition. “It is an honour for us to win the Global Champion title in the Private Business Group in the creditor/investor category from the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises. We recognise the importance of SOEs as the main driver of Indonesia’s national and economic development. Therefore, since 2010, Bank DBS Indonesia has been actively supporting SOEs in various sectors, including oil and gas, telecommunications, mining, and finance. As a banking institution, we consistently and actively contribute to support the development of SOEs to help accelerate Indonesia's economic growth as well as give a positive contribution to the wider community."
As a tangible manifestation of Bank DBS Indonesia’s commitment as a purpose-driven bank, the award is also a driving force for Bank DBS Indonesia to continue to be a trusted partner for SOEs, working in synergy with the Government and SOEs, as well as the private sector and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). We also have aspirations to create useful programmes while educating the public about safe and easy banking activities to realise Bank DBS Indonesia’s vision of being the Best Bank for the Better World.
The award was presented by Minister of SOEs
Erick Thohir, witnessed by Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs
Teten Masduki, officials from the Ministry of SOEs, SOE Directors, and SOE partners in Jakarta (5/9). In his opening speech,
Erick Thohir said that Indonesia is exceptionally strong in terms of natural resources and markets that can help SOEs, the private sector and MSMEs support post-pandemic economic recovery and growth. “Consolidation between the Government and the private sector is crucial, and the great roadmap created by the Government must be pursued, not only through partnership between the Government, the private sector and MSMEs, but also between SOEs, the private sector, and MSMEs as partners. We should not allowed ourselves to be divided because a nation divided will lose its strength,” said
Erick.
SOEs appreciated partners who have collaborated and contributed actively in creating a business ecosystem that is beneficial and gives a positive impact on the economy. According to
Erick, it is past time that SOEs sit in their ivory towers in the midst of the challenges of digital disruption.
“This is why I want to appreciate Mitra Champion 2022. We also want to ensure that we can rely on these partners for SOEs to Go Global. This is not really a grandiose step. If other nations can make ecosystems as their national foundation, why can't we? As the largest country in Southeast Asia in terms of economic, population, or market, this synergy is inevitable," said
Erick.
Through this event, it is hoped that SOEs, together with the private sector and MSMEs, can collaborate to address three issues. First, to improve relations with a win-win solution considering that SOEs will be encouraged to become global companies through synergy between the two parties. Second, to support domestic products through SOE partners. And lastly, to realise a unified vision between SOEs and transparent and professional partners.
The Apresiasi Mitra BUMN Champion 2022 awards were presented following a selection and assessment process based on their 2021 performance as SOE partners. Out of the 268 partners nominated by 12 SOE clusters, 41 were selected for this year’s awards. The 41 SOE partners consisted of nine creditors/investors, eight distributors/brokers, 12 suppliers/vendors, and 12 customers/buyers.
