Singapore, 01 Nov 2025 - POSB today announced a multi-year partnership with the Singapore Athletics Association (SAA) to support the growth of local athletics and inspire upcoming generations of young people to pursue their aspirations.
“POSB has always stood for supporting Singapore’s children and youth at an early age, whether learning to save, to persevere or to dream”, said Nelson Neo, Head of POSB. “We believe that sports help children discover the value of focus, effort and teamwork. By supporting young athletes who embody these qualities, we hope to inspire children, parents and families to believe that excellence can be achieved with courage and determination.”
Marc Brian Louis, 23, Elizabeth-Ann Tan, 22, Laavinia Jaiganth, 19, and Harry Irfan Curran, 17 – promising young talents who have already represented Singapore at the senior level will benefit from this partnership.

Over the next five years, POSB has pledged SGD 500,000 to support local athletes.
The funds from this partnership will be distributed in yearly tranches. For 2025, SGD 100,000 will go to the four athletes while the remaining SGD 400,000 will be disbursed in tranches over the next four years, all dedicated towards supporting high-potential national athletes.
Under the partnership, the four athletes will also serve as community ambassadors, engaging in POSB-led initiatives such as its financial literacy programmes and community events including its annual Run for Kids charity race. These efforts reinforce POSB’s focus on building lifelong habits of resilience and financial well-being among children and families in Singapore.
POSB’s commitment comes at a pivotal time as SAA accelerates preparations to field its largest and most competitive squad yet for the 2029 SEA Games on home soil.
“We are delighted to partner with POSB in nurturing the next generation of Singapore’s track and field athletes,” said Lien Choong Luen, President of Singapore Athletics Association. “This partnership is more than financial support – it’s about building pathways for our athletes to grow, excel and inspire. POSB’s belief in resilience and community deeply aligns with ours, and together we look forward to empowering our athletes as we prepare for the 2029 SEA Games and beyond.”
Said Dr. Su Chun Wei, Chief of High Performance Sport Institute, “We appreciate corporate partners like POSB who journey with us in supporting our Team Singapore athletes. Their support not only fuels our athletes’ sporting ambitions, but also plays a vital role in shaping a more vibrant sporting culture in Singapore. We hope more organisations will be inspired to step forward in helping our athletes and ecosystem succeed.”
“POSB’s sponsorship helps me fund various recovery resources, allowing my body to cope with the intensity of training. This is especially important in my preparation to win upcoming competitions and to qualify for world U20 championships next year”, said Harry Curran Irfan.
The partnership with SAA is part of DBS’ broader commitment to supporting Singapore’s sporting ecosystem and celebrating homegrown talent. Last year, DBS sponsored kitefoiler Max Maeder, one of Singapore’s youngest world champions and Olympic medal winners.
