DBS wins top honours at the Singapore Corporate Awards

Bank clinches ‘Special Recognition Award’ for all-round excellence in corporate governance


Singapore, 18 Jul 2018 - As a testament to DBS’ commitment to sound corporate governance, the bank has won the Singapore Corporate Awards’ (SCA) top accolade, the ‘Special Recognition Award’. 

 


According to the SCA, the pinnacle award was conferred to DBS for “its all-round excellence in corporate governance”. It is also bestowed on companies that have clinched an award in all five categories1 of the SCA over a five-year period. In the last five years, DBS was the first company to have won the top award in each of the five categories.

DBS’ performance in the various areas of corporate governance such as sustainability and diversity were also attested to by its consistent top rankings in the Singapore Governance and Transparency Index (Top 3 in the SGTI 2017) and the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (Top 3 in the 2017 Scorecard).

• Best Annual Report Award (2017 Gold winner in Large Cap category)

The ‘Special Recognition Award’ was introduced in 2016 to recognise exemplary board conduct and governance in areas not already covered by the existing five categories of awards.

The SCA is organised by the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, Singapore Institute of Directors and The Business Times, supported by Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority and Singapore Exchange, and sponsored by Bank Julius Baer. Other partners include Deloitte, EY, Heidrick & Struggles Inc, KPMG, PwC, Citigate Dewe Rogerson and i.MAGE.
