Governance

Sustainability matters are overseen by the Group Sustainability Council (GSC), which sets strategic direction on DBS’ sustainability agenda and ensures execution of sustainability initiatives. It is chaired by DBS Chief Sustainability Officer and consists of senior members from key business and support units across the bank.

The GSC is further advised by the Board Sustainability Committee (BSC), which provides oversight on the Bank’s sustainability agenda. It is chaired by DBS CEO Piyush Gupta and its members comprise current DBS board members as well as a non-director member. All have significant experience in sustainability matters and would allow for greater focus on the sustainability agenda which is one of the bank’s key strategic imperatives.

Across our core markets, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, and Taiwan, we have established Local Sustainability Councils (LSCs) to ensure sustainability is embedded consistently across the organisation. These LSCs follow a similar structure as the GSC and have a broad mandate to execute sustainability initiatives in line with the Group’s sustainability approach while adapting to local market cultures and contexts.
