Specifically within DBS Group Research, the Economics & Macro Strategy team consists of economists and strategists covering currencies, interest rates, and major economics across the globe. The Equity research team is made up of a network of analysts covering key regional stock markets, while the Credit research team provides investment recommendations on SGD and USD corporate bonds.

The wider teams are also supported by members of the Asian Insights Office and Resource Centre, who represent DBS Group Research in strategic initiatives, and provide useful information across the banking franchise.

What You Can Do

In order to succeed in your role with DBS Group Research, budding economists, strategists and research analysts should first have an inherent interest in the key drivers of capital markets and macro economic developments. It is also pertinent that a candidate possesses excellent financial modelling and data organisation skills, as the job scope requires one to plough through large volumes of data to substantiate research calls and views, all while keeping abreast of key market developments.

Having good communication skills, both written and verbal, are also crucial. The teams frequently publish thought provoking, market moving research pieces and are often required to present their findings and research calls to a wide array of internal and external stakeholders. These stakeholders range from Chief Executives of companies, senior management within DBS, to institutional and private banking clients.

Ultimately, candidates should have a good head on their shoulders, possess strong team spirit and be adaptive as DBS Group Research increasingly embrace a digital approach with its product offerings.
