Singapore Fintech Festival 2025: How DBS is shaping a trusted digital asset ecosystem
Learn about DDEx and DBS Token Services, and our involvement in Project Ubin, Project Orchid and Project Guardian.

The rapid shift towards on-demand digital services has led businesses and public sector entities to reimagine their operating models and how they engage with customers. To support this transformation, a new generation of 'always-on' banking services is essential.
In 2019, DBS took a view that emerging technologies like blockchain, tokenisation and smart contracts have the potential to form the next frontier of financial markets and transform how value is transferred.
Since then, we have built an end-to-end solution suite that spans the issuance and listing of tokenised assets, trading and custody of digital assets, tokenised money and payments, and banking services for the ecosystem.
Here are some of the ways we are shaping a trusted digital asset ecosystem, as showcased at the Singapore Fintech Festival (SFF) 2025:
DBS Digital Exchange (DDEx) – an institutional-grade digital asset trading platform for accredited and institutional investors
As the world's first bank-backed digital exchange, DDEx empowers institutional and accredited investors with a holistic digital asset ecosystem. Customers can experience 24/7 cryptocurrency trading with deep liquidity, direct crypto-to-fiat pairs, and bank-grade custody solutions. Our platform seamlessly integrates traditional and digital portfolio management, backed by Singapore's largest bank and world-class security infrastructure.

Tokenised assets – revolutionising access to digital assets by tokenising securities
Asset tokenisation is the next frontier of financial markets infrastructure. We have launched our first tokenised structured note on the public Ethereum blockchain. This enables investors to subscribe to and trade structured note tokens with greater flexibility and precision, helping them manage portfolios with greater agility and resilience amidst market volatility.
This expansion of our blockchain capabilities builds on DBS’ established digital asset ecosystem, offering a regulated and secure gateway for investors to hedge against market volatility and potentially enhance yield, with the added benefit of fractional ownership and secondary market trading capabilities.

DBS Token Services – unlocking client efficiencies with transaction banking services powered by tokenisation and smart contracts
DBS Token Services introduces a new suite of banking solutions incorporating tokenisation and smart contract capabilities with our award-winning transaction banking services.
By integrating DBS' permissioned blockchain with the bank's core payment engine and multiple industry payment infrastructures, our suite of solutions - Treasury Tokens, Conditional Payments, and Programmable Rewards – unlocks new transaction banking capabilities and operational efficiencies for institutional clients.
DBS Token Services enables instant, 24/7 real-time payment settlement and programmability through smart contracts, allowing institutions to govern fund use according to predefined conditions with enhanced security and transparency, while the use of a permissioned blockchain ensures full control and adherence to compliance standards.

Creating the future of payments
DBS commitment to reimagining the future of payments is underscored by our years of participation and experimentation in government initiatives, including Project Ubin, Project Orchid and Project Guardian.
These collaborative initiatives form a sequential progression in the Monetary Authority of Singapore's (MAS') exploration of digital assets, with Project Ubin establishing foundational knowledge on wholesale payments, Project Orchid focusing on programmable money for potential retail use, and Project Guardian leveraging those insights to pilot the tokenisation of financial assets like funds and bonds.
