Championing social entrepreneurship across the region is the centerpiece of our social responsibility efforts. Since 2012, DBS has provided over SGD 2 million in grants to promising social enterprises in Asia.
Working with respected academic institutions such as TATA Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), we established programmes to help provide start-up funding, business guidance as well as mentoring support.
Through these initiatives, we seek to empower social enterprises to become commercially viable while pursuing their social objectives.
In 2012, Sandeep Mehto, founder of Bharat Calling, participated in the DBS-TISS Social Entrepreneurship Programme. He was awarded the DBS-TISS Fellowship and received funding to scale up on his social venture, which aims to help rural students achieve higher education. From touching the lives of 50 students to 12,000 students today, view how Bharat Calling is making a difference in India.
