Appointment is part of smooth leadership transition, which also sees veteran banker Eric Ang named senior executive advisor

Eric Ang and Eng-Kwok Seat Moey

SINGAPORE, 19 May 2014 – Eric Ang, our Capital Markets Head, turns 62 soon. Some time ago, he expressed a desire to hand over the Capital Markets baton to the next generation. To ensure a smooth transition, Eng-Kwok Seat Moey was subsequently appointed Deputy Head of Capital Markets in March last year. The bank is now ready to complete this leadership transition, with Seat Moey succeeding Eric as Head of Capital Markets effective 1 June.

A career DBS banker of over 35 years, Eric is widely-regarded and well-respected as a path-maker and trailblazer of Singapore capital markets. Eric and his team have pioneered many industry firsts, including being lead manager for the IPO of Singapore Airlines, the first international offering for a locally-incorporated company, managing SingTel’s IPO, the biggest in the market at the time, as well as developing and launching Singapore’s first REIT. Under his leadership, DBS has had a track record of consistently topping Singapore capital market league tables.
While Eric will step down as Capital Markets Head, he has kindly agreed to stay on as Senior Executive Advisor. As Senior Executive Advisor, Eric will be principally responsible for business origination and high level relationship building for the bank. In addition, he will also join the Board of the DBS Foundation, which was set up earlier this year to strengthen DBS’ CSR efforts and demonstrate our commitment to being a force for good. Eric will report to CEO Piyush Gupta, and will be a standing invitee to the Group Management Committee (GMC).
Seat Moey has more than 20 years of experience in Capital Markets advisory and funds management, and is an industry leader and REIT pioneer in her own right. Over the past year, she has made great progress in integrating the Equity Capital Markets and Asset Backed Structured Products parts of DBS’ Capital Markets business, and laying the foundations for taking our business to even greater heights. In her new role, she will be a member of the GMC and report to Piyush.
Said Piyush, “Eric is synonymous with capital markets in Singapore, having played an instrumental role in shaping the industry over the last three decades. Not only has he pioneered many firsts in the sector, he has also helped groom the next generation of leaders, which has paved the way for this smooth transition. Given Eric’s calibre, wealth of experience and wide network, he is an invaluable resource and we are very pleased that he will continue to be actively involved with DBS as we take the business to the next level.”
