To mark National Customer Day 2024, Bank DBS Indonesia enhances consumer knowledge and awareness of sustainability
Indonesia, 04 Sep 2024 - To mark National Customer Day (Harpelnas) 2024, Bank DBS Indonesia organised a private view of the sustainable fashion collections of SukkhaCitta, a recipient of DBS Foundation 2018 and 2022 grants. As part of Harpelnas 2024, Bank DBS Indonesia will also hold a customer appreciation event at Gading Walk on 7 September 2024 to provide an opportunity for customers to get various ESG-themed promotional products, education on sustainability provided by NAFAS who is a social enterprise and partner of DBS Foundation, as well as a bazaar joined by sustainability partners.
Goes the extra mile for sustainability issues
To accomplish its mission as Best Bank for A Better World, Bank DBS Indonesia is guided by its three pillars of sustainability: Responsible Banking, Responsible Business Practice, and Impact Beyond Banking. Under the Responsible Banking pillar, Bank DBS Indonesia provides various investment products for the consumer banking segment that focus on sustainability. By engaging customers in sustainability issues, the bank has seen a 190 percent increase in interest in investing in ESG-themed mutual fund products and a 278 percent increase in sales of green bonds. On top of that, Bank DBS Indonesia has a Green Savings product that allows customers to save and donate. The number of Green Savings accounts has increased by 7.5 percent from 2023, with donations going to Yayasan Tangan Pengharapan to support children's education in Eastern Indonesia.
At this year’s National Customer Day celebration event, SukkhaCitta showcased a number of collections, including

that use natural and eco-friendly dyes. Examples include the use of mahogany wood scraps from the furniture industry that are boiled overnight, Javan sappan wood that produces the pink hue, and
Strobilanthes cusia
leaves that are fermented for 48 hours in mountain spring water to produce a blue color. These steps have enabled SukkhaCitta to address environmental issues while empowering women in several villages in Indonesia.
DBS Foundation supports SukkhaCitta through the DBS Foundation Social Enterprise Grant in 2018 and 2022. The grant funds were used to increase production capacity and develop the Mama Kapas regenerative cotton project. The project covers the processing of cotton fabric into various saleable products, as well as hands-on training and travel to various regions in Eastern Indonesia. DBS Foundation not only provides funding but also mentorship to help SukkhaCitta overcome business challenges.
