DBS has been recognised for its strong corporate governance practices at the 20th SIAS Investors’ Choice Awards, emerging the winner in the Singapore Corporate Governance (Big Cap) category. The bank also took home the award for Shareholder Communication Excellence (Big Cap), and was the runner-up in the Sustainability (Big Cap) category.

In line with the bank’s efforts to maintain high levels of transparency and accountability with stakeholders, DBS continued to look for ways to enhance corporate governance disclosures, including in its 2018 Annual Report.

On the sustainability front, recognition of DBS’ efforts is a validation of its commitment to creating a more sustainable future. The bank issued its inaugural standalone sustainability report this year, the first Singapore bank to do so. The report provides an expanded account on progress made in supporting the United Nations’ set of Sustainable Development Goals and material sustainability matters.

Earlier this month, DBS was included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Asia Pacific for the second consecutive year, making it one of just five Singapore-listed companies and the only bank in Southeast Asia on the index. In July 2019, DBS was also named to the FTSE4Good Global Index for the third year running, having been the first Singapore bank to be included in 2017. The bank is also active in the sustainable financing space, having provided green loans, sustainability performance-linked loans and renewable energy financing that amounted to more than SGD 2.4 billion in 2018.
