2021 Grant Programme
The DBS Foundation Grant Programme is our flagship programme to support both Social Enterprises (SEs) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Since 2014, DBS Foundation has been supporting social enterprises in growing their businesses and creating a positive impact. The new SME grant programme seeks to help SMEs kickstart their transition towards becoming more sustainable businesses.

These inspiring SEs are working on solutions across social, environmental, and food-related impact areas that will improve the lives and livelihoods in the region.
Creating Social Impact
10 of the 19 social enterprises focus on making positive impact across education, elderly, healthcare, rural communities, and underserved disadvantaged groups.
Develop Alchemy Fibre™ to lower glycemic index in food and empower healthier meals, fewer blood sugar spikes, and reduces the risk of diabetes in the long run.
The DBS Foundation Grant will help automate the production line and enable outreach to financial disadvantaged individuals to benefit from Alchemy Fibre.
Culture Art and Nature
A community-focused model that support disadvantaged students and children in their growth and provide occupational training through jobs at Sanxia Township.
The DBS Foundation Grant will fund marketing efforts to raise awareness of the community's craftsmenship and increase outreach to 30 alliances in Sanxia.
Eden and Elie
A premium impact-driven design house that employs and train adults with autism to create sustainable jewellery products.
The DBS Foundation Grant will catalyse international expansion and engaging two new underserved beneficiary groups.
Jovaki Agro Food
Work with tribal women farmers to produce organic products from underutilised fruits in forested areas, thereby uplifting their lives socially and financially.
The DBS Foundation Grant will allow expansion to a new Indian state and provide sustainable livelihood to 18,000 tribes, whilst preserving 20 million trees.
Focus on education for children and adolescent in social innovation and bridge the gap in social development and interaction.
The DBS Foundation Grant will be used to develop more innovative teaching and learning kits, thereby increasing participation rates for children across different socio-economic stratas.
Voice Changer Shanghai
Develop a customised rehabilitation programme for children with speech disorders (e.g. hearing loss, cleft palate, stuttering, etc.).
The DBS Foundation Grant will enable more store presence and the development of online learning content for children with speech disabilities.
Shenzhen People Strong
Develop a smart pill organiser for the elderly population to have a reliable and intelligent medication management mechanism.
The DBS Foundation Grant will support overseas expansion and provide eldery in the low-income group access to smart pill box.
Develop soft food products for the elderly population, especially for those with dysphagia.
The DBS Foundation Grant will help scale up production of texture-modified foods to serve more elderly with dysphagia and invest in R&D for new products.
Empower visually-impaired people to independently conduct daily activities through real-time access to printed, handwritten and digital content in 60 global languages.
The DBS Foundation Grant will be used to improve technological capabilities to scale their solution and reach 60,000 visually impaired individuals across 5 countries in Asia.
We Are Caring
Provide ethical solutions to uplift livelihoods of the global domestic helper workforce by eradicating exorbitant salary deductions and equalizing the hiring process.
The DBS Foundation Grant is used to deploy the first version of the mobile app to consumer-facing platform, drive more sign-ups, and expand into Hong Kong.
Driving Environment Impact
Nine of the 19 social enterprises work towards zero food waste, reducing, reusing and recycling waste, and reducing carbon footprint.
Develop NEWBitumen derived from plastic waste to replace traditional (crude-derived) bitumen used for road construction.
The DBS Foundation Grant will enable up to 200 tonnes of unrecyclable plastic waste to be processed and help construct a pilot eco-road in Singapore using NEWBitumen.
Bottloop (Incom Recycle)
Collect plastic waste and recycle them into creative, trendy products for B2B customers, such as Adidas, Starbucks, Mercedes-Benz etc.
The DBS Foundation Grant is used to set up and upgrade the beta version data platform for zero-carbon solid waste recycling to reduce carbon dioxide emitted.
Hainan Star Farmer
Convert vast barren land in China, improve on soil quality using organic fertilisers to rejuvenate large-scale land for productive agriculture.
The DBS Foundation Grant will support to scale up production of soil fertilisers and invest into R&D to improve soil area of more than 10,000mu in 3 Chinese provinces.
Provide a circular plastic waste management solution by enhancing traceability and transparency on high quality recyclates for circular packaging.
The DBS Foundation Grant will improve transparency and traceability of plastic waste management and diverts more plastic waste away from landfills.
Facilitate responsible waste collection including sorting, recycling, and composting activities to reduce the volume of waste going into landfill.
The DBS Foundation Grant will help build internal capabilities to scale up and enhance the quality of waste processed.
Upcycle plastic bottles into high and medium grade PET flakes, which can be transformed into sustainable packaging and textiles.
The DBS Foundation Grant will fund an environmental study of MLP recycling process and hire a team for MLP plastics collection in Tangerang.
A zero-waste and refillery store that allows consumers to refill household products affordably and conveniently, while reducing single-use plastics.
The DBS Foundation Grant will help develop a prototype refillery machine that can be placed across Hong Kong, and support market expansion overseas.
Blue Sky Energy Technology
Provide Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to monitor and optimise energy usage and air quality of buildings.
The DBS Foundation Grant will support marketing and development of an incentive program to promote energy savings equivalent to 75,000kg of carbon to end users.
Use proprietary AI tech to assist farmers in the production and prediction of the final crop harvest based on growing pattern of plants and use data analysis to mitigate agricultural risk.
The DBS Foundation Grant will help digitise farmland management to attract talents in agricultural work using a data-driven scientific approach in Taiwan.
