Empowering the community

DBS takes a long-term view of the well being of the community and supports the advancement of the people in the knowledge economy through convenient access to information. Spurring the individual and nation to greater heights of achievement will sharpen their competitive edge if they are well equipped with knowledge and empowered to use them well.

We are a corporate sponsor of the National Library Board's initiative of building the new National Library at Victoria Street by supporting the drawing and painting of creative artworks by students from the Temasek Polytechnic on the hoarding fence surrounding the new National Library site.

We provided funding for a seminar on the impact of financial liberalisation on banking, brokerage, insurance and funds management, jointly organised by Wharton and the Singapore Management University (SMU).

We also instituted the DBS Meritorious Award, a book prize given to first year Accountancy students at the SMU who have been placed on the Dean's List. We hope to encourage students to achieve their best in their studies so that they will be able to actively put their accounting knowledge to good use when they eventually step out into the working world.
