Itacho

The ltacho Sushi app is an end-to-end journey e-menu mobile application.

Problem Statement

How might we reinvent the dine-in customer experience and reduce manpower costs in the Food & Beverage industry?

The Startup

Jay & Jov Pte Ltd

A Singapore based SME consultancy firm covering a range of issues, and is also an IT solutions provider.

About the Challenge

Waiting time exists throughout a dine-in experience; from waiting to be seated, to having your orders taken, and finally to making payments. This experience can quickly become negative when customers feel neglected by the waitstaff. While self-service kiosks and tablets have since been introduced to alleviate these issues, such solutions also come with hefty investments on equipment that not all merchants are ready to make.

The Solution

Built on Jay & Jov's product AppsPOS, the e-menu allows customers to conveniently browse, order, and make payments on their own mobile devices when dining in.

Here's a sneak peek at the ltacho Sushi dining experience:

To further reduce the waiting time, customers can even pre-populate their orders for immediate submission by scanning their designated table's QR code upon entering the restaurant.

For Itacho Sushi, manpower previously dedicated to order-taking has since been reduced or reallocated for better efficiency. Overhead costs from investments in self-service tablets have also been greatly reduced.

The Startup Experience

Startup Xchange was the constant bridge between the DBS problem-owner, Jay & Jov and Itacho, facilitating discussions in consolidating and understanding the objects and operations of all involved parties. To ensure a seamless rollout, Startup Xchange provided pre-launch training to Itacho Sushi's staff on consolidating orders from the application, as well as methods of helping customers familiarise themselves with the new ordering mechanism.

The Startup Xchange team continues to work on the project, exploring ideas to further elevate the customer experience at Itacho Sushi.

We are always ready to hear and rationalise the issues faced by our clients before proposing cost-effective solutions that suit not only their requirements, but also their customers' needs. Our philosophy of leveraging on innovation to solve real-world problems matches well with what the team at DBS Startup Xchange espouses. They have provided a conducive environment to foster the best possible outcomes for the project and have ensured a smooth working partnership for all parties involved!
