  1. Eligibility
  1. The DBS Foundation X NEA (National Environment Agency) (“Organisers”) Hungry for Change Challenge (the “Challenge”) is a challenge requiring participants to submit a solution or idea to a problem statement provided by the Organisers (the “Submission”) with the goal of having winners pilot their ideas or solutions.
  2. Participants must meet the following conditions at the time of Submission and throughout the Challenge. Only eligible Submissions will be considered for further evaluation (see section 3).
    1. Each team must have at least four (4) members, and at least one of the members must be a Current Student or Recent Alumni (“Participants”).
    2. “Current Student” is defined as any person who is enrolled in either full-time or part-time (excluding short term courses) ITE, polytechnic, undergraduate, postgraduate, or PhD programme at a Singapore tertiary institute.
    3. “Recent Alumni” is defined as any person who graduated, left school or took a sabbatical after 1 January 2018.
  3. Without prejudice to Clause 1b above, the Organisers shall have sole and absolute discretion to accept and/or reject Participants to the Challenge, even if such Participants may/may not have fully met the criteria set out in Clause 1b above.
  1. Submission
  1. Submissions must be made in English.
  2. Incomplete, illegible, corrupted, unrecognisable formats, and untimely entries will be void and disqualified.
  3. Each team may submit more than one Submission to the Challenge.
  4. All Submissions must be submitted through the official Challenge website by 31 October 2022 (“Deadline”) and shall include:
    1. An executive summary of not more than 500 words; and
    2. Pitch deck of no more than 30 slides that includes implementation plan.
    3. Video presentation (of not more than five (5) minutes) is optional.
  5. The Organisers accept no responsibility for any entries that are lost, misdirected or not submitted via the official Challenge website for any reason whatsoever.
  6. Submissions sent in after the Deadline will not be considered.
  7. Participants consent to the collection, use and disclosure of their personal data (including but not limited to name and contact details) by the Organisers and the Organisers’ affiliates for the purposes of this Challenge. Participants further consent to being contacted by DBS Foundation for the purposes of notifying them of any new initiatives, challenges and/or projects which DBS Foundation may conduct. All personal data will be kept secure and processed in accordance with the applicable laws.
  8. All information submitted by the Participants will be treated as confidential and protected in the spirit of non-disclosure. The Organisers will not sign any non-disclosure agreements with Participants.
  9. Submissions will be evaluated based on the evaluation criteria determined by the Organisers.
  1. Evaluation Rounds
  1. The Challenge will include two evaluation rounds after the Submissions have been received and evaluated by the Organisers.
    1. Qualifiers: The Organisers’ evaluation panel(s) will shortlist up to 15 Submissions for the Qualifiers. Participants whose Submission(s) have been shortlisted will be required to make a presentation of their Submission to the Organisers’ evaluation panel(s) on a date to be notified by the Organisers to such Participants. The presentation must include the proposed solution or idea, business model if relevant, implementation plan, project milestones, budget and impact measurement(s). Up to 10 Submissions from the Qualifiers will be selected for Pitch Day (“Finalists”).
    2. Pitch Day: Finalists shall secure a supporter to pilot their solutions and must provide proof of support, name and address of implementation site, if relevant, of the supporter to the Organisers within four (4) weeks from the date of the Qualifiers. Failure to procure a supporter and to notify the Organisers of the details of the supporter would result in the disqualification of the Finalist. Finalists shall be required to make a presentation of their Submission to the Organisers’ evaluation panel(s) on a date to be notified by the Organisers to such Finalists. The presentation must include the proposed solution or idea, business model if relevant, implementation plan, project milestones, budget and impact measurement(s).
  2. Shortlisted Participants and Finalists who do not attend and present their Submissions at the Qualifiers and Pitch Day respectively will be disqualified from the Challenge.
  3. Winners will be notified via email after Pitch Day.
  4. The Organisers’ decision on all matters relating to or in connection with this Challenge, including the results of the Challenge, award of the funding support for implementation of pilots and/or disqualification of any Participant, shall be final and binding. No queries, correspondence, claims, challenges or appeals will be entertained by the Organisers.
  1. Funding support for implementation of pilots
  1. Submission evaluation
    1. Participants will be evaluated based on the Submission and the presentations before the Organisers’ evaluation panel(s) at Qualifiers and Pitch Day.
    2. Up to five (5) winning Submissions (‘Winners’) will be selected to receive funding support as may be required to pilot their Submission but up to a cap of S$25,000 (the “Funding”).
  2. Funding disbursement
    1. The Winners shall be required to sign a Letter of Offer with DBS Foundation for the Funding (“Letter of Offer”).
    2. The disbursement of the Funding will occur in two tranches. The disbursement amounts per tranche shall be discussed between the Organisers and the Winners and set out in the Letter of Offer.
    3. Challenge winners are strongly encouraged to open an account with DBS Bank to facilitate ease of Funding disbursement.
  1. Miscellaneous
  1. The Organisers reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions or suspend or terminate the Challenge without any liability to any Participant.
  2. In the event of any inconsistency between these Terms and Conditions and the Letter of Offer, the Letter of Offer will prevail.
