Through Bank DBS Indonesia’s programme, social enterprises and customers make donations in the midst of Covid-19 Pandemic


Indonesia, 03 Mar 2021 - As a bank that is driven by positive goals and impacts, Bank DBS Indonesia is actively addressing various social and environmental issues. Bank DBS Indonesia’s efforts are based on three pillars of sustainability, namely responsible banking, responsible business practices and creating social impact. Based on the third pillar - creating social impact - Bank DBS Indonesia invites social enterprises to join the effort to help victims of natural disasters in Indonesia. 

The donation worth more than Rp100 million were donated by Bank DBS Indonesia through several parties including social enterprises who are Bank DBS Indonesia’s partners, and also through FoodBank of Indonesia (FOI). Bank DBS Indonesia through DBS Foundation held a gathering event and a social enterprise development program where one of the results from the program was donated for the natural disaster victims across several locations in Indonesia that was donated through social enterprises. Besides that, Bank DBS Indonesia also provided donations in the form of clothing and medication for victims, which is part of the DBS commitment to keep running their sustainable business.

Bank DBS Indonesia’s Consumer Banking Group (CBG) also raised donations for Jakarta’s flood victims during one of Bank DBS Indonesia’s annual events, DBS Spring Festival 2021. The event was joined by 400 customers of priority banking services, DBS Treasures Private Clients and DBS Treasure. DBS Spring Festival 2021 was highlighted by a lion dance performance during which Bank DBS Indonesia invited customers to make online donations in lieu of giving red packets to the dancers as is the custom to ensure an abundant life for customers as they welcomed the new Chinese New Year. The donations were converted into more than 500 meal packages for Jakarta’s flood victims and to be donated through FOI.

Regarding Bank DBS Indonesia’s aid for natural disaster victims in Indonesia, the Head of Group Strategic and Marketing Communication, PT Bank DBS Indonesia, Mona Monika, said, “Bank DBS Indonesia always makes efforts to contribute to society, whether on our own or by inviting partners and customers. We hope the donations could help ease the burden and challenges faced by the disaster victims.”

Muhamad Nanda Putra, the CEO of Tanijoy, one of Bank DBS Indonesia’s social enterprise partners, added, “Through a series of programmes, Bank DBS Indonesia not only consistently helps social enterprises, but also involves us in making donations for those who need it.”
