Themed “Igniting Possibilities for the Asia of Tomorrow”, the DBS Asian Insights Conference 2015 focused on key themes such as clean energy, digital disruption and the economic developments of Asian Giants – China, India and Indonesia. Highlights of the event included a keynote by the President of the Republic of Singapore, Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, as well as the DBS Asia Leadership Dialogue between former President of Indonesia, Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and DBS Group CEO, Piyush Gupta on the opportunities and challenges facing Indonesia. With more than 1,000 top management executives, private investors and media journalists in attendance, this conference is an excellent platform to build relationships and exchange ideas and discuss the exciting possibilities in Asia as it continues to transform and mature.
Held on 31 May 2016, the DBS Asian Insights Conference attracted over 400 clients and thought leaders. The conference discussed key implications of China’s supply-side reforms and the opportunities which arose from China’s transformation. Prominent thought leaders such as Professor Sun Liping from Qinghua University and Professor Chen Zhiwu from the Yale School of Management spoke candidly about the impact of China’s reforms and how its financial liberalization will shape the future of businesses. Clients benefited immensely from the insights shared and uncovered new investment opportunities to grow their business and personal wealth.
The DBS Asian Insights Conference 2015 in Indonesia was a huge success with record attendance of close to 800 corporate and wealth customers. Held in Jakarta in November 2015, the conference featured notable speakers including Dr. Rizal Ramli, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Franky Sibarani, Head of Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board and Sofyan Wanandi, Vice Presidential Expert Team Chief. As a testament to the quality of the event, these government officials had endorsed and extended support for the conference during their speeches and interviews.
The inaugural DBS Asian Insights Conference in Taiwan was held in June 2014 in Taipei. Featuring heavyweight speakers, including Vincent Siew (蕭萬長), former vice president of Taiwan, Jan Hung-tze (詹宏志), chairman of Taiwan’s leading Internet portal PChome, Cheng Cheng-mount (鄭貞茂), president of the Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance (台灣金融研訓院) and former finance minister Christina Liu (劉憶如). The discussions delved into the development trends of the renminbi and offshore financial centers as well as the future of electronic commerce.
The inaugural India Treasury Summit was held in February 2015 in Delhi and Mumbai. Held jointly with Asia Risk, the summit focused on the theme of Market Outlook, Regulations and Hedging Strategies in Delhi on 23 Feb 2015 and in Mumbai on 25 Feb 2015. The summit was aimed at strengthening our strategic commitment to grow in the region and provide a platform for driving conversations around India’s monetary policy and offer practical solutions for managing rising market volatility. G Mahalingam, Executive Director of The Reserve Bank of India, Tamal Bandyopadyay, Deputy Managing Editor of Mint Newspaper and Souymo Dutta, Treasurer of Reliance Industries, were among the eminent thought leaders who were present at the summit, sharing their knowledge with the participants.
As an optimal platform for obtaining up-to-date market information and exploring business opportunities, the Hong Kong ASEAN Summit 2015 brought together over 190 Consular representatives, trade association leaders, entrepreneurs from across Asia as well as Hong Kong’s leaders from the political and financial sectors, academia, and experts in economic research. The summit explored new business opportunities brought about by China’s One Belt and One Road initiative, and allowed the community to gain a deeper understanding of the current business outlook in Asia.
