In 2022, GandengTangan offers innovations to support growth of SMEs

Indonesia, 20 Jan 2022 - 2021 was a crucial year for economic recovery. Crowdlending pioneer GandengTangan succeeded in developing funding innovations that support the recovery of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

In addition to obtaining a P2P lending permit from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), in 2021 GandengTangan disbursed IDR40.5 billion of loans, or 10 times of the amount in the previous year, a record high since its establishment.

Bouncing back while supporting SMEs in 2021

GandengTangan also contributes to SME development through its invoice financing service to facilitate SMEs in running their business.

To reach more business players, GandengTangan collaborates with entrepreneurial organisations and SMEs such as Indonesian Businesswomen Association (IWAPI) Jakarta, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Jakarta, and Regional Cooperative Council (Dekopinda) East Jakarta.

To honour the commitment to becoming a safe and secure platform, GandengTangan has strengthened its risk management system through the application of secure payment methods and a more comprehensive credit scoring model.

GandengTangan has also proven to be a trusted P2P lending partner as indicated by its partnerships with 10 institutional lenders, including banks and venture capital firms.

GandengTangan to offer low-interest loans in 2022

GandengTangan Co-Founder and CEO Jezzie Setiawan said that for 2022, GandengTangan has prepared a series of strategies to reach a wider range of SMEs with stronger funding support.

“This year, we are focused on developing a range of funding innovations to facilitate SMEs in running their businesses. We started offering these innovations at the beginning of this year," said Jezzie Setiawan.

GandengTangan will develop the invoice financing scheme that allows SMEs to use unpaid invoices as collateral to get a maximum funding amount of IDR2 billion.

Individually-owned businesses can also apply for a maximum funding amount of IDR25 million through GandengTangan, made possible by its partnership with cooperatives and microfinance institutions (MFIs).

To support the growth of SMEs, GandengTangan also provides loans with a low interest rate of 6% per year for a maximum loan amount of IDR250 million. The low interest rate is made possible thanks to the support from PT Bahana Artha Ventura.

There is more good news for 2022: GandengTangan will continue the partnership with Bank Sulselbar. Starting in January, the GandengTangan platform is used at 32 Bank Sulselbar branches.

GandengTangan’s aggressive approach to innovation this year was marked by the Series A financing that is currently being processed.

The start-up, a recipient of the 2018 DBS Foundation Social Enterprise Grant Programme, is committed to maintaining optimal growth to provide maximum support for the growth of SMEs.

The Social Enterprise Grant Programme of DBS Foundation is supported by Bank DBS Indonesia. The programme is a tangible manifestation of one of the sustainability pillars of Bank DBS Indonesia, namely Creating Social Impact to support the growth and development of social entrepreneurs in Indonesia.

Mona Monika, Head of Group Strategic Marketing & Communications, PT Bank DBS Indonesia, said, “Since 2015, 14 social entrepreneurs from Indonesia have received DBS Foundation’s grant, including GandengTangan, which received the grant in 2018. To grow more social entrepreneurs like GandengTangan, we present several education, training, and collaboration programmes that aim at accelerating social entrepreneurs' response to various social issues in Indonesia.”

“If 2021 was a year of recovery for SMEs, this year we hope that SMEs can grow further. GandengTangan will always be ready to accompany them to achieve success,” said Jezzie Setiawan.
