Brand value rises 39% to USD 9.03 billion

Singapore, 31 Jul 2019 - DBS Bank has been named Singapore’s Most Valuable Brand for the seventh year in a row, with its brand value rising 39% to USD 9.03 billion, according to Brand Finance’s 2019 “Top 100 Singapore Brands” report. The bank’s brand rating was also upgraded to AAA, from AAA- in 2018, making it one of just five brands in the country to receive the triple-A rating.

Karen Ngui, Head of Group Strategic Marketing & Communications, DBS Bank said, “Holding the title of Singapore’s Most Valuable Brand for seven years running is an honour and a privilege. This distinction adds to our recent recognition as the first bank in the world to concurrently hold three of the most prestigious global best bank awards at the same time. Our accolades speak to the focus we have placed on reimagining banking, while also inspiring us to look beyond our role as a bank, driving change to ensure a sustainable future and to create a better world.”

Earlier this month, DBS was named ‘World’s Best Bank’ by leading global financial publication Euromoney in its 2019 Awards for Excellence. The bank also won Global Finance’s ‘Best Bank in the World’ and The Banker’s ‘Bank of the Year – Global’ in August and November 2018, respectively, making it the first bank in the world to concurrently hold all three titles.

This year, DBS was also ranked ASEAN’s most valuable brand for the seventh consecutive year[1].

Samir Dixit, Managing Director of Brand Finance Asia Pacific said, ““New technological developments will have perhaps the fastest application opportunities for the services sector and within that the banks. Retail revenues will be under constant pressure and present a threat to banks going forward, and it will become a way of doing business. DBS has a head start over others in the region due to their early focus on digital platforms and design thinking, putting them in good stead to address new challenges that may arise in the coming years.”

London-based Brand Finance is an independent brand strategy and valuation consultancy. The Singapore Top 100 Brands report is published annually and incorporates data from all listed companies. Each brand is accorded a brand rating: a benchmarking study of the strength, risk and future potential of a brand relative to its competitor set; and a brand value, which is a summary measure of the financial strength of the brand.
