At DBS, our success is bolstered by our diversity of experiences. We believe that every individual possesses unique strengths and perspectives, all of which add value to the work that we do. We empower our employees to pursue their varied interests, in both their professional and personal lives. From women in technology to charitable volunteers: there is a place for everyone here.

I am an empowered woman in technology

"I joined DBS after taking part in the Hack2Hire programme. I’m glad to be here because I’m learning a lot from my colleagues and the work that we do. We women in tech, really don’t have to prove anything to others. Rather, we work hard to prove to ourselves that we can overcome any challenges. After all, I think that all programmers, whether male or female, just love challenges. We want to challenge our limits and we want to improve ourselves."

-- Jenny Wong (Singapore)

I am a motivated learner

"I started off with the Global Transaction Services, Cash Product team in 2011, and after three years there, I had the opportunity to be part of the core team that launched digital banking in India. Last year, I moved into my current role within Treasury and Markets here, in Singapore. DBS offered me the exciting opportunity to explore something that’s completely outside my comfort zone, especially in a cross-border and cross-business unit setting. I found that switching roles gave me a mental model to use all those experiences, so that I will be able to better tackle problems in the future."

-- Harish Shashidhar (India)

I am a compassionate giver

"I’m especially passionate about the environment and the elderly because these are often not the most popular causes. I once invited my colleagues to join me in teaching the elderly how to use VR headsets. I wanted to show how working with the elderly can be fun! Even though my colleagues work different shifts due to the nature of their job, they are always willing to spend extra time or use their time off to volunteer. These volunteering sessions also help us to relax together outside of work."

I am a forward thinker

"When I first moved to China, I encountered the challenges of its disparate geography, where business practices and developments often vary between its numerous provinces. I saw a need for our teams to connect, communicate and collaborate. I also think it is important to keep learning something different, and these reasons inspired me to establish the Institutional Banking Group Family WeChat Channel in China.  On this channel, we post our success stories and latest deep industry insights.  Much like a storyboard, this space helps us learn from one another’s experiences so as to drive new business opportunities together as a team. The endgame is for people to work together as a team, for them to do deals together, because it is ultimately for the business and our customers."
