Zero Waste Indonesia and Bank DBS Indonesia jointly present Zero Waste Indonesia Festival to invite public participation in achieving a waste-free Indonesia

Indonesia, 08 Sep 2021 - The Zero Waste Indonesia Festival is an event held to coincide with Zero Waste Week, an environmental campaign to reduce waste at Final Disposal Sites (TPA). Taking “Sinergi Menuju Negeri Lestari” (“Synergy Towards a Sustainable Country”) as the theme, the festival aims to become a joint movement towards a clean and waste-free Indonesia. The inaugural festival is jointly held by Zero Waste Indonesia and Bank DBS Indonesia and is expected to be the first of a series of events to be held on an ongoing basis so that people understand the environmental issues they are facing and how to start a low-waste lifestyle. The Zero Waste Indonesia Festival is a series of online activities such as Instagram Live, Webinars, and Reels Competition held from 6-11 September 2021.

According to information available on bit.ly/zwidfestival2021, the Zero Waste Indonesia Festival is a series of discussions on waste issues in Indonesia by experts and industry players. Tickets for the Zero Waste Indonesia Festival webinar can be purchased via bit.ly/tiketzwidfestival2021 for IDR25,000.00 for weekday webinars while tickets for the summit webinar on September 11, 2021 are available for IDR50,000. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated in the form of a Blue Carbon Package (BCP) to support the protection of the coastal ecosystems.

The Zero Waste Indonesia Festival is also a celebration of Zero Waste Indonesia’s third anniversary. As a large gathering of people of different backgrounds, the festival expects to gain more cooperation and support for a sustainable environment. Maurilla Imron, the founder of Zero Waste Indonesia, said, "The event is held to celebrate a joint movement towards a clean and waste-free Indonesia as well as a gathering place for all members of society who want to contribute. Through this event, together we want to build an awareness and provide direction for people to participate in environmental protection. The Zero Waste Festival is one of Zero Waste Indonesia's goals, and this year we will make it happen online under the title ‘Synergy Towards a Sustainable Country’."

Through this event, Zero Waste Indonesia and Bank DBS Indonesia take action to be part of the solution to tackle waste problem in Indonesia. “As a purpose-driven bank, we see that the Zero Waste Indonesia Festival shares the same vision with Bank DBS Indonesia, which is to provide education and reduce waste in Indonesia, notably food waste. This event is in line with the #MakanTanpaSisa movement, which we initiated in an effort to invite people to start reducing food waste by changing our daily habits. Through the Zero Waste Indonesia Festival, we hope to increase public awareness of the dangers of food waste and the importance of starting the #MakanTanpaSisa habit," said Mona Monika, Executive Director, Group Strategic Marketing and Communication, PT Bank DBS Indonesia.
