#MYSPARKHK was officially launched today by Ms. Glendy Chu, Executive Director and Head of Group Strategic Marketing and Communications of DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, Kalmond Ma, Executive Director of Make-A-Wish Hong Kong, celebrity superstar Stephy Tang, and Sean Freeman, who used the giant letters to spell the word SPARK in a joyful display of creative fun.
Glendy Chu, Executive Director and Head of Group Strategic Marketing & Communications of DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, said “We believe there’s a spark of ingenuity, joy and endless possibilities within each and every one of us. As a community, that’s what makes Hong Kong so endearing and enduring. Through DBS Hong Kong’s #MySparkHK and inspired by Sean Freeman’s one-of-a-kind giant letters, we want the people of Hong Kong to celebrate and embrace everything that makes this city a game-changer.”
Internationally renowned as a master of creative typography, Sean Freeman was inspired by #MySparkHK to create a colourful palette of giant one-of-a-kind letters (from A to Z) for the event, which is a first for Hong Kong. Sean’s work has been widely recognised with numerous awards, including "2012 GRAPHIS BEST DESIGN - gold award", "TYPE DIRECTORS CLUB - CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE" in 2012, 2013 and 2015. "This is my first visit to Hong Kong. The "#MYSPARKHK" event presented through my co-operation with DBS Hong Kong makes me believe that Hong Kong is a city full of vitality and infinite possibilities. I wish the letters I design can bring smiles to Hong Kong people and stimulate their individual creativity. By using the letters to spell out words that have a special meaning to them, everyone can express and share their hopes and dreams. I just learned that 27 September is a traditional Chinese festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival. I hope that my designs can bring Hong Kong people a unique warmth for the festival."
Stephy Tang, who shot a short video for #MySparkHK, attended the launch ceremony and shared her own experience of sparking joy. Stephy said "I shot a short video for this event, and I love the letters designed by creative typography master Sean Freeman. Every letter is so colourful and lovely. After I shot the video, I wanted to bring the letters for “LOEY” back to my company as a window display. As a singer, actress and founder of my own brand, I believe that, as long as you have an infinite passion towards life, your dreams can come true. I wish my brand and my volleyball team future success. I also want to share and spread the joy and creativity, especially to seriously ill children, which is why every #MySparkHK photo that is shared via social media with the #MYSPARKHK tag will result in more and more donations to Make-A-Wish Hong Kong! This event is so meaningful that I am willing to give it my greatest support!”
Make-A-Wish Hong Kong will benefit from a HK$10 donation by DBS Hong Kong every time a #MySparkHK photo is shared via Facebook/ Instagram using the #MYSPARKHK tag...
“Time after time, we hear how wishes have offered hope, strength and joy to our children, where previously there has often been worry, despair and heartache. The support garnered from the DBS Hong Kong #MySparkHK campaign allows Make-A-Wish Hong Kong to grant some of the special wishes of our Wish Children. This will also provide the impetus for our mission delivery by attracting more eligible children to get inspired about their one-true-wish, and to create memories that the children and their families will never forget”, said Kalmond Ma, Executive Director of Make-A-Wish Hong Kong.
