The Issue:
China is facing one of the world’s fastest-growing ageing populations, with more seniors needing support to live safely, independently, and with dignity in their communities. Traditional care models often leave gaps between home care, community services, healthcare, and rehabilitation, placing increasing pressure on seniors and their families.
The Breakthrough:
Fuyuan Elderly Care is pioneering community-embedded eldercare through its Xinleli model, an integrated care hub that brings together health services, rehabilitation, active ageing programmes, and community support in one location. With more than 50 service sites across Shanghai and over 10,000 daily elderly service visits, Fuyuan combines professional care with technology such as rehabilitation and assistive robots to help seniors age well within their communities while reducing caregiver burden.
The Ambition:
With support from the Impact Beyond Award, Fuyuan Elderly Care will expand its Xinleli model by establishing six modular centres, while strengthening partnerships, service standardisation, and community engagement. These efforts will improve access to integrated eldercare services for underserved and vulnerable populations, accelerating the adoption of community-based ageing solutions across China.
