With up to SGD 3 million in prize money, the DBS Foundation Impact
Beyond Award celebrates businesses creating innovative solutions to
help people age with dignity, purpose and joy.
From improving healthcare and nutrition to tackling social isolation
and empowering a multigenerational workforce, here’s to turning big
ideas into real-world change.
As Singapore’s population ages, an estimated 83,000
seniors will live alone and 100,000 will experience at
least mild disability*, increasing their risks of falls,
medical emergencies, and isolation. The current
eldercare solutions are often costly or lack real-time
support, leaving critical gaps in safety and
independence at home.
BOP Pte Ltd is reimagining senior care with its BOP -
Buddy Of Parents (part of iWOW Technology) platform,
using IoT and AI to help seniors age safely and
independently at home. Its flagship BOP Button, already
installed in over 10,000 HDB rental flats, connects
seniors to 24/7 emergency support and alerts caregivers
instantly, with no Wi-Fi needed.
The Solution:
With support from the Impact Beyond Award, BOP - Buddy
Of Parents (part of iWOW Technology) will develop two
new BOP products, BOP Presence and BOP Companion,
increasing outreach to vulnerable seniors through
strategic partnerships, and driving international
growth.
With a rapidly ageing population, especially in
Shanghai, China faces a growing shortage of quality,
affordable elderly care, particularly for those living
with disabilities or dementia. As demand significantly
surpasses supply, the need for innovative, inclusive
care solutions has never been more urgent.
The Breakthrough:
Huakang offers diverse elderly care services, including
urban complexes, community-based facilities, specialised
dementia care, and integrated all-age communities. Their
"home, community, institution" model, combined with
strategic government partnerships, ensures accessible,
affordable care for everyone.
The Solution:
With support from the Impact Beyond Award, Huakang will
launch a multi-pronged initiative to strengthen dementia
and elderly care by enhancing workforce training,
establishing caregiver psychological support centers,
improving care environments with interactive and
intelligent rehabilitation tools, engaging families
through education and support, and fostering
cross-sector collaboration to elevate service standards.
As Hong Kong’s population ages, the need for home-based medical care is surging. More than 70% of elderly patients require continued support after leaving the hospital, straining already overburdened facilities. Yet, outdated staffing systems create inefficiencies in matching patients with qualified caregivers. Meanwhile, freelance healthcare professionals seek flexible work but face limited opportunities, just as institutions struggle with manpower shortages.
The Breakthrough:
Evercare Health is now launching a new AI-powered Medical Notes feature to further enhance care delivery. Its AI-driven platform matches patients with the right healthcare professionals in minutes. The Evercare Super App connects over 30,000 HPs to flexible jobs, while its Client Portal streamlines care coordination across public hospitals, elderly homes, and NGOs.
The Solution:
With support from the Impact Beyond Award, Evercare Health will grow its development of an AI-powered Medical Notes feature to enhance care delivery, and expansion of their suite of home care services, with the goal of empowering more seniors to age at home, and recruiting additional healthcare professionals.
In India, 2.3 million older adults with chronic conditions rely on family caregivers, mostly women, leading to a 13% drop in employment among educated women. Additionally, 97% of paid caregiving is provided by unorganised sectors, highlighting the urgent need for trained professionals and formal recognition of caregiving as a sustainable career.
The Breakthrough:
Life Circle not only delivers high-quality caregiving, care management, and medical services to seniors, but also builds a pool of professionally trained caregivers through both in-person and virtual training centres, creating sustainable career opportunities.
The Solution:
With support from the Impact Beyond Award, Life Circle Health Services will establish new training academies and digital training tools. Their CareSkills Academies provide comprehensive training, equipping caregivers with knowledge and practical skills required for providing quality care. They also partner with NGOs to mobilise rural youth into the caregiving workforce. In parallel, their CareTube mobile app is revolutionising caregiver training through expert-curated crowdsourced practitioner content that helps caregivers upskill.
