Shanghai Voice Changer

Our beginnings

When I was 20 years old, I met a girl who was unable to speak clearly due to her cleft palate – the most common congenital malformation of the oral and maxillofacial regions. The girl shared with me, “My dream is that other people can hear my dream.”

With a major in broadcasting and hosting, I decided to make that little girl’s dream a reality and founded Voice Changer. Voice Changer’s mission is to help children with speech disorders in China learn how to communicate normally through innovative therapy. In addition, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of caring and professional speech therapists.

The work we do

China has more than 100 million people who suffer from speech disorders, and we hope that the work we do will enable the children and youth to gain confidence through the recovery of their ability to speak. We provide both a conducive classroom environment and online lessons that are targeted to helping the children with speech disorders in China. Outside of the classroom learning, Shanghai Voice Changer is creating a better reality for many of these children through holistic speech therapy by empowering parents with toolkits and guidance to support their children at home.

Currently, children between two and 16 years old can attend our online and in-person classes. Our online classes are for beneficiaries with mild to moderate symptoms and is a combination of one-to-one classes, supervised learning, and course recordings for home practice. We prioritise those children with moderate to severe speech disorders for the in-person classes.

Soon, we plan to have flagship centres next to hospitals in China's Tier 1 & 2 cities and support social welfare community service centres farther outskirts to allow more children to benefit from our services. We also plan to expand with franchise outlets in Tier 3 & 4 cities.
