Mr. Nihal Vijaya Devadas Kaviratne CBE was appointed to the Board of Directors of DBS Group Holdings Ltd and DBS Bank Ltd. on 29 April 2011. He is a member of the Audit Committee and Board Risk Management Committee. In addition, he is a director of DBS Foundation Ltd, a not-for-profit company established to strengthen DBS’ corporate social responsibility efforts across Asia.
Nihal's illustrious career with the Unilever Group spans 40 years during which he held various senior level management positions across Asia, Europe and Latin America. Nihal was instrumental in leading the recovery of Unilever Indonesia after the financial crisis of 1998. He retired from Unilever in March 2005.
Nihal has been an Independent Director of StarHub Ltd., since 16 August 2004 and GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in India, since 26 July 2005. He is a member of the advisory board for South East Asia/Indonesia of Bain & Company SE Asia, Inc and a member of the Corporate Resilience Advisory Council of McKinsey & Company, Inc. He also serves as a member of the UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID) Private Sector Portfolio Advisory Committee for India. He is also a director of Olam International Limited and Caraway Pte. Ltd.
He has attended management development programmes in India, Australia, the UK and the USA, including the Advanced Executive Program conducted by Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and the Advanced Management Program conducted by Harvard Business School. Nihal holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with a major in Economics from the Bombay University, India.
Mr. Danny Teoh was appointed to the Board of Directors of DBS Group Holdings Ltd and DBS Bank Ltd. on 1 October 2010. He is Chairman of the Audit Committee, as well as a member of the Board Risk Management Committee and Nominating Committee. He is a director of DBS Bank (China) Limited and also chairs its Audit Committee. In addition, he is a director of DBS Foundation Ltd, a not-for-profit company established to strengthen DBS’ corporate social responsibility efforts across Asia.
Danny spent 27 years in KPMG LLP, Singapore and over the years, held various senior positions including Member of Executive Committee, Head of Audit, Head of Financial Services, Head of Risk Advisory Services and Head of Marketing & Communications. He was the Managing Partner of KPMG LLP, Singapore since 2005 and he retired from KPMG in September 2010.
Danny is a qualified Chartered Accountant in England since 1981 and is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He has almost 30 years of auditing and advisory experience from working in England, Malaysia and Singapore.
Currently, Danny is the Chairman of M1 Limited. He also serves on the boards of Ascendas-Singbridge Pte Ltd, Changi Airport Group (Singapore) Pte Ltd and Keppel Corporation Limited.
Mr Eric Ang is a career DBS banker with 36 years of banking experience and until 31 May 2014, was responsible for the capital markets business. He is now a Senior Executive Advisor at DBS Bank and is principally responsible for business origination and high level relationship building for the bank. He sits on numerous boards including The Islamic Bank of Asia, HwangCapital (Malaysia) Bhd and DBS Foundation.
Eric holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University of Singapore.
Ms Karen Ngui joined DBS in June 2005 and is Managing Director and Head of Group Strategic Marketing and Communications.
She is responsible for corporate communications, brand management, corporate advertising, strategic marketing, internal communications, sponsorships and corporate social responsibility. She leads media and issues management efforts across the DBS Group and is responsible for managing and enhancing the bank's brand positioning and establishing a consistent brand identity across all businesses and markets, including Singapore, Greater China, South and Southeast Asia.
Karen has over 25 years experience in corporate branding, marketing and communications for financial institutions. Prior to joining DBS, she was the Global Head, Brand Management and Strategic Marketing for Standard Chartered Bank.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from University of Southern Illinois and a Masters of Business Administration from University of Iowa. She is a Malaysian citizen and a Singapore Permanent Resident and is married with three children.
Lim Chu Chong joined DBS Bank (China) Ltd (“DBS bank”) in February 2016 as the head of Institutional Banking Group (China) and a member of China Country Management Committee, which oversees DBS’ businesses and operations in mainland China.
Chu Chong is a seasoned corporate banker with more than 20 years of experience in retail, SME and corporate banking. With broad industry experience, Chu Chong has played an instrumental role in facilitating many SMEs’ further inroads into Asia.
Prior to this appointment, Chu Chong was the Regional Head of SME Banking where he oversaw DBS’ SME business in Singapore, mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia and Taiwan. Chu Chong was responsible for developing and implementing a consistent SME business model across the region. He also created both physical and digital platforms for SMEs in Singapore to consult and connect with industry experts, investors and fellow entrepreneurs.
Chu Chong is focused on building relationships with customers, facilitating customer service through partnerships, and promoting the development of entrepreneurship. He is also committed to facilitating the development of social entrepreneurship.
Joyce Tee is Managing Director, Group Head of SME Banking and oversees the SME banking businesses across the region, for DBS who has most recently been named the World’s Best SME Bank 2018 by EuroMoney – a testimony of her customer first leadership.
Joyce is a strong advocate of driving business change focused on the growth of corporates and SMEs alike. From her beginnings at DBS in 2004 where she led the Bank’s shipping, aviation and transportation business to contribute substantially to the corporate banking franchise’s bottom-line, to pushing for digitisation ground up since 2016 when she took on her current role, to deliver industry first initiatives such as auto online loans and account openings that have supported DBS’ win as World’s Best Digital Bank by EuroMoney for the second time in 2018 – Joyce is focused on empowering customers and staff alike to grow to greater heights.
She has built trusted relationships with major corporates, including some of the world’s largest aircraft lessors, who tapped on DBS to diversify their funding sources and access to capital markets in Asia, as well as been a friend to SMEs by steering the 99%SME movement (in 2016 and 2018) to garner nationwide support for local businesses.
In recognition of her passion and dedication towards SMEs, she was awarded SME Banker of the Year (Regional) 2018 by The Asset – a first for the Bank under the category of SME leadership awards.
Prior to DBS, Joyce worked in OCBC Bank’s enterprise banking unit for four years, covering the offshore marine and commodities sectors and 12 years in United States at Grant Thorton providing management consultancy and financial advisory to SMEs, and at a regional bank in Houston Texas.
