*** Public can donate to Singapore Red Cross via iBanking,
"Almost every Singaporean currently has an account with either DBS or POSB and more than 1 million of them use DBS iBanking. Given our wide customer base, ATM and AXS network, we want to help the Singapore Red Cross raise money by making it convenient for customers to donate to this worthy cause. All donations to the Red Cross Myanmar Cyclone fund will be available to the Singapore Red Cross immediately," said Mr Rajan Raju, Managing Director and Head of DBS Consumer Banking Group. From today onwards, DBS and POSB customers can contribute to "Red Cross Myanmar Cyclone" fund conveniently via the following channels:
The Red Cross Myanmar Cyclone fund has been included as a billing organisation under the Bill Payment service and any customer wishing to make a contribution to the fund can do so by debiting their DBS or POSB account. The step-by-step guide is in the Appendix. Continued Mr Raju: "We are saddened by the massive destruction caused by the cyclone in the Yangon region. As DBS expands its footprint in this region, we want to contribute to the humanitarian efforts of the relief agencies to our neighbouring country here in Asia. We also hope that other organisations will be encouraged to come forward to do their part as well." This is not the first time DBS opened its self-service banking channels for a charitable cause. During the SARS outbreak in 2003, and during the aftermath of the killer tsunami that devastated coastal areas across South and Southeast Asia in 2004, DBS made available its Internet Banking and ATMs to facilitate customers who wished to contribute to the various funds to support the relief agencies then.
