DBS ups the ante with exclusive banking services for its clients
in Asia
SINGAPORE, 12 September 2006 – DBS Bank today launched Asia’s first
full banking centre in the transit lounge of an airport. The centre,
named DBS Asia Treasures at Changi, puts DBS on the regional map as
the first in Asia to provide banking services exclusively for their
clients based in Asia.
DBS Asia Treasures at Changi has an area of 450 square metres and
is located beside the Kris Flyer Lounge at the transit area of Changi
Airport Terminal 2. It is a members-only centre where a select few
of DBS’ customers from Indonesia, Hong Kong and Singapore have been
specially invited to partake of this exclusive banking experience.
“As the first in Asia to have a banking centre within the transit
area, DBS has once again taken the bold lead in setting new regional
standards in customer service. DBS Asia Treasures at Changi epitomises
the Asian brand of hospitality – we go the extra mile to pamper our
guests. We seek to understand and anticipate the needs of our clients,
many of whom are frequent travellers, and provide solutions and
amenities that will meet these requirements. The overwhelming response
to our membership invitation is testament that we have correctly identified
our clients’ needs.
“Besides offering the full spectrum of banking services, the centre
will also extend travel-related services to our members. We will be
able to cater to last minute travel requests such as credit card line
extensions and foreign currency exchanges. In fact, we will be offering
the best foreign exchange rates you can find in the Changi Airport“,
said Mr Edmund Koh, Managing Director and Head of DBS’ Regional Consumer
Banking Group.
A total of 12 different currencies will be offered, including the
US Dollar, the Sterling Pound and the Euro, along with a number of
key Asian currencies like the Japanese Yen, the Hong Kong Dollar and
the Chinese Renminbi. Besides having an Automated Transaction Machine
(ATM), teller services are also available at the centre six days a
week. Services provided include account opening, cash withdrawals
and deposits, bill payments, financial advisory, internet banking,
as well as travel-related products and services like travel insurance,
currency exchange, credit card replacements and credit card line extensions.
DBS Asia Treasures at Changi will serve delectable Asian cuisine
and members will be treated to periodic sightings of renowned chefs
as well as wine-tasting events. Complimentary buggy rides to the departure
gates are available, as are limousine transfers from the airport to
a destination of the members’ choice on their return journey.
Said Mr Koh, “This is our flagship centre and plans are underway
to replicate this model in our other key markets in the region. We
feel privileged to be able to offer this unparalleled level of care
and attention to our customers based in Asia.”
