1. Will I be considered if I am not majoring in business or finance?
The programme is open to undergraduates studying in Year 2 or 3 from all disciplines as we put strong emphasis on interns' overall quality and potential. Therefore, it is not necessary to major in business or finance for our Internship Programme. However, certain career tracks may require specific/technical skills and knowledge in addition to a business or finance major.
2. What kinds of candidates are DBS looking for?
We seek candidates who have outstanding overall qualities such as leadership potential, impeccable character, outstanding communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of people. Outstanding undergraduates studying in Year 2 or 3 with a demonstrated track record of achievements in academic and non-academic pursuits from reputable local and overseas universities are welcome.
3. Will DBS apply a work permit for me?
In general, the programme is for those who are eligible to work in the country they are hired for, although they may be studying in overseas or local university. Nonetheless, given our strong focus on candidates' potential, individual circumstances could be reviewed on case-by-case basis.
4. Which area will I be assigned to?
Each intern will be assigned to an area at the start of the programme based on his/her strengths, interests and DBS' needs. The objective of the programme is to provide interns with a valuable opportunity to understand and gain exposure in our business.
5. What type of training will I receive?
You will be provided with classroom training, projects, on-the-job training, networking opportunities, as well as guidance from your supervisor/mentor.
6. What will be my assignment during the Internship Programme?
Short-term project(s) will be assigned to Interns for learning and development purpose, and you will be expected do a sharing on your assigned project towards the end of the Internship Programme.
7. What will be my salary package?
We constantly monitor and review market condition to ensure our compensation package adequately reflects and rewards the accomplishments of interns throughout the programme. You will learn more about the package details during our recruitment process.
8. What will be my future path further to the Internship Programme?
DBS Internship Programme is a valuable opportunity to gain real job experience and to learn more about the banking industry and our culture. Outstanding DBS Interns will be recommended for Management Associate Programme or as Direct Hire upon graduation.
