1. How many graduates is DBS recruiting this year?
We plan to recruit approximately 30-50 graduates across the region for the 2008 programme. These graduates will be recruited locally and internationally.
2. Will I be considered if I don't have a business
or finance degree?
The programme is open to graduates from all disciplines as we put strong emphasis on graduates' overall quality and potential. At the beginning of MAP, we will provide comprehensive training to help Management Associates (MAs) build a good foundation in banking knowledge before your attachment to the allocated Business Unit. Therefore, it is not necessary to have a business or finance degree to join the DBS MAP.
3. What kinds of candidates is DBS looking for?
We seek candidates who have outstanding overall qualities such as leadership potential, high integrity, excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of people. Both fresh graduates from reputable local and overseas universities and candidates with less than two years' work experience are welcome.
4. Will DBS apply a work permit for me?
In general, the programme is for those who are eligible to work in the country they are hired for, although they may have graduated from either overseas or local universities. Nonetheless, given our strong focus on candidates' potential, individual circumstances could be reviewed on case-by-case basis.
5. What will be my career track?
A career track will be identified for each MA at the start of the programme based on his/her strengths, interests and DBS' needs. Every MA will have an Individual Development Plan (IDP) which ensures comprehensive training and development covering three key areas: Experience, Education and Relationship. There are also ongoing career discussions between the MA, HR and Business to create a suitable IDP that maximizes the MA's potential to contribute to his allocated career track. Click here to view the opportunities available in the key business/service areas.
6. What type of training will I receive?
You will receive campus training if you are in Singapore, Hong Kong and China. The structure of our training is based on a mix of experience, education and relationship and is founded on an intensive curriculum which includes financial skills and concepts, business and personal effectiveness modules, corporate orientation and field trips. After the initial training, ongoing training and development opportunities will also be provided according to the career track you are in.
7. How quickly can I progress?
MAP is a broad-based development programme for high potential individuals who have a passion to build successful and fast track careers in DBS. MAs will join as Analysts and put under a fast track progression within the programme period. Promotion to higher ranks will be reviewed at the end of the programme, subject to satisfactory performance.
8. What will be my salary and benefits package?
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package for MAs. We constantly monitor and review market conditions to ensure our compensation package adequately reflects and rewards the accomplishments of MAs throughout the programme. You'll learn more about our package details during our recruitment process.
9. How can I apply?
All applications must be made on-line via our MAP
careers site.
